Thought for today:

Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1

Hebrews 12 is all about running the race successfully, and yet "winning" is not mentioned. The success of the race is often best viewed from the finish line, but since most of us don't plan on reaching the end of our spiritual race for a long time, we need our trainer - The Holy Spirit, our pace book - the Bible, and our running mate/guide - Jesus Christ. He knows the road. We also need to consistently train, stretching our pace, running past the wall, encouraging others on their way. Only after this, will we see the crown of life.

P.S. Lest you think I'm a big runner, I always say "I only want to run when I'm chased!" I'd be a lot more serious about trying it if I ever saw a runner who was smiling (and not just because Reebok was paying him thousands of dollars a step to do it.!) I don't know too many other people who consider it recreational to stick live fire in their mouths either, but at least I don't get shin-splints. And there is the whole analogy about the cleansing fire on my lips, ....but that's another day's thought. :-)
